ROOTS Young Adult Shelter

1415 NE 43rd St.
Seattle, WA 98105

Since 1999, ROOTS has been providing shelter to homeless young adults ages 18 to 25 in the basement of the University Temple Methodist Church in Seattle’s University District neighborhood.  They provided the first overnight shelter in the city specifically designed to meet the needs of homeless young adults.  They are also one of the only co-ed shelters in the city, providing an integral piece of the continuum of care for homeless persons in King County.  While ROOTS’ dedication to Seattle’s homeless youth shines, their shelter space was lackluster.  So, ROOTS came to Common Ground for help.  We are helping ROOTS expand their space to hold more shelter beds, helping construct expanded hygiene facilities and creating more private rooms for case management consultations.  With our extensive experience working on shelter renovations and our project management expertise, ROOTS will be well on their way towards expanding their services for an often overlooked segment of the homeless community.
